The Sorbonne
Founded in 1257, the Sorbonne is the historic heart of the University of Paris and gave the quarter its Latin-speaking scholars and its name. Its domed chapel and grand courtyard remain the symbol of student Paris; cafés, bookshops and lecture halls still set the rhythm of the surrounding streets.
